Children can pick up free bike helmets during “Put a Lid on It!” event

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WTVG) – The Bowling Green Bicycle Safety Commission and the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics are partnering to offer children free bicycle helmets this week.

Organizers say during the “Put a Lid on It” event, children may pick up a bicycle helmet at the Bowling Green Community Center on the following dates:

  • May 12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • May 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • May 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • May 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

184 helmets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. They will also be available at the Wood County District Public Library Children’s Room during regular operating hours.
