Driver charged with two counts of homicide in crash that killed pregnant woman

WHITEFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WTVG) – A man from Oregon, Ohio is charged with two counts of second-degree homicide after investigators say he caused a wreck that killed a pregnant Michigan woman.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 23, north of Consear Road, in Whiteford Township, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Kaitlyn A. Ellison, age 32, of Petersburg Michigan, was side-swiped by the 24-year-old from Oregon, Ohio, deputies said. Witnesses told investigators the man was speeding past other vehicles on the right shoulder before the crash, and collided with Ellison while he was trying to merge into the right lane from the shoulder, the sheriff’s office said…
