Lucas County offering free gun locks to veterans, firearm owners

TOLEDO, Ohio — National Gun Violence Awareness Day is happening Friday, June 6, and in Lucas County, health officials are aiming to reduce gun violence in the northwest Ohio community.

The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has partnered with the Toledo Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic to provide free gun locks to community members. The locks were provided by Safe Kids Greater Toledo.

The goal of the project is to promote responsible gun ownership and safe storage while simultaneously preventing firearm-related injuries.
