TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A woman who was shot in the parking lot of Chasers in June 2024 is now suing a security guard who she alleges shot her as well as the security company he works for.
In January, prosecutors dropped the case against security guard William Hartford “for good cause shown,” according to court records. Hartford had originally been charged with improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or a school safety zone.
According to the lawsuit filed on June 3, 2025, Janiya Coffey was in the parking lot of Chasers on June 8, 2024, when a disturbance with several fights broke out. One person in the parking lot then pulled out a gun and fired several rounds, according to the suit…
