Mixed cleaning chemicals prompt evacuations at Toledo apartment complex, firefighters hospitalized

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Two Toledo apartment buildings were evacuated and multiple firefighters were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure after responding to a call for toxic fumes, authorities said.

Toledo Fire and Rescue crews were called out to Westland Gardens apartments Thursday morning for a report of toxic fumes. A TFRD spokesperson said Thursday afternoon that cleaning chemicals were unintentionally mixed, causing respiratory problems for some.
