I read Mr. Stengle’s recent letter to the editor with interest — and with disappointment. While I agree with him on one thing — that transparency and accountability matter — I take issue with the way those words are being selectively applied and weaponized against me and the citizens who support the Maumee recall effort.
First of all, the recall is not about slogans. It’s about a growing number of Maumee residents who are tired of feeling ignored, shut out, and brushed aside by city leadership. They want answers, solutions, and a city government that listens — not just when it’s convenient or politically safe. I assume Mr. Stengle is unaware that for months, I have argued against recall, both on social media and in front of hundreds of people on a microphone. The reality is that it’s likely to happen either way.
