TOLEDO, Ohio — A new COVID-19 variant known as NB.1.8.1 — nicknamed “Nimbus” and ominously referred to as “razor-blade throat” — is raising alarms among health experts overseas.
The variant, which has been identified in several Asian countries, is drawing attention for its unusually severe throat symptoms.
