Black Rock largely misses the mark

Black Rock Bar & Grill, connected to the south side of the Franklin Park Mall, is a place I’ve passed by many times, which made me intrigued to try it at long last.

For those that don’t know, the place, which is a small chain that has been located in Toledo since before the coronavirus pandemic, is known for its meats cooked at the table by the diner on a square “volcanic stone” or “black rock” that is, according to the restaurant’s website, heated to above 700 degrees to allow for quick cooking.

As this literally is in the name of the restaurant, our first visit necessitated trying what the stone had to offer…
