Chemical engineering experiment was result of hazmat situation at UToledo, police say

TOLEDO, Ohio — A University of Toledo building was evacuated late Thursday night after a chemical engineering experiment posed a threat of explosion.

A university spokesperson confirmed Thursday at 10:53 p.m. that Wolfe Hall on the university’s main campus had been evacuated while crews evaluated a potential hazardous material, or hazmat situation. Officers on scene described to WTOL 11 the situation as “chemical.”
