TOLEDO, Ohio — If you receive a threatening phone call from a law enforcement officer requesting immediate payments, don’t be quick to trust the caller.
That’s a message from the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office. They issued a warning on Facebook on Wednesday about ongoing fake officer scam calls. In these calls, callers act as local law enforcement officers with the goal of extorting money. The sheriff’s office said the scammers are leaving threatening fake immediate payment calls all while claiming to be actual deputies in the community.
