Under clear skies and with temperatures in the mid-80s, the African American Legacy Project hosted an evening of art and jazz on the patio Thursday.
Attendees gathered at the group’s headquarters, 1326 Collingwood Blvd., to honor the gifts and talents of the late Toledo artist Marvin Vines while enjoying the deeply soulful music of Gerard Gibbs, known as a master on the Hammond B3 organ, and his trio, ORGANized crime.
The Legacy Project works to research, document, and honor African-American history and life in Toledo and northwest Ohio. The group noted that the celebration honoring Marvin Vines was “more than an event; it’s a powerful moment of remembrance, recognition, and hope.”…
