SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — After more than six weeks of construction, the intersection at Hill Avenue and McCord Road in Springfield Township is expected to reopen by the end of this week. Lucas County engineers have been working to complete a new roundabout designed to improve safety at one of the area’s most crash-prone crossings.
The roundabout is part of a county effort to reduce traffic collisions at the intersection, which has seen 65 crashes over the past five years, nearly half of which involved injuries.
According to the Lucas County Engineer’s Office, 81% of the injury crashes at the intersection were head-on collisions or left-turn related. The roundabout is designed to dramatically cut those numbers…
