TARTA operator no longer employed after being stabbed during onboard attack, agency confirms

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority confirms the bus driver who was stabbed in the face during an onboard altercation on July 1 is no longer employed with the agency.

“We can confirm that the operator no longer works for TARTA,” Andy Cole, TARTA’s communication and marketing manager, told WTOL 11 on Tuesday.

The driver was injured during a morning route near Parkwood and Bancroft, when a passenger pulled out a sharp object and stabbed him in the chin. Surveillance video from the bus showed the passenger reaching into his bag and lunging at the driver after an apparent argument…
