Men convicted of pregnant woman’s murder get consecutive life sentences

Two men convicted in a pregnant woman’s shooting death early last year received consecutive life sentences Monday, without possibility of parole.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Eric Allen Marks handed down maximum sentences for the Jan. 24, 2024 deaths of Tameisha Price, 34, and her unborn daughter, Malaysia Price, with whom Ms. Price was 8½ months pregnant. Lawyers representing Paris James, 37, of the 3200 block of St. James Woods in Sylvania Township, and Jerry Scott, 28, of the 3400 block of Buckeye Street, then requested appointment of appellate counsel.

“This is the worst form of violence that could possibly have occurred,” Judge Marks said before denying requests from defense lawyers Kati Tharp and Joseph Westmeyer that their clients be given the opportunity to redeem themselves before appearing before a parole board…
