OREGON, Ohio — David Brecht has always been diligent about managing his energy use and paying his bills on time. But his latest electric bill left him stunned, jumping from about $100 to $257 after a rate hike by Toledo Edison in June.
Toledo Edison’s standard electric rates increased by more than two cents per kilowatt-hour last month, causing a major spike in bills for many customers, including Brecht.
