A 16-year-old boy admitted to delinquency for involuntary manslaughter Monday for a 57-year-old East Toledo man’s beating death last year in which a 22-year-old man also was involved.
But under a “serious youthful offender” specification attached to Malachy Turner’s plea, the boy could be re-sentenced as an adult if his rehabilitation as a juvenile is unsuccessful.
Patricia Wardrop, the assistant Lucas County prosecutor overseeing juvenile cases, told Judge Linda Knepp in Lucas County Juvenile Court that Turner was properly described, in accordance with Ohio law, as not the principal actor and under a negative influence of another when he participated in the Oct. 22 beating death of Curtis Douglas “Doug” Marshall…
