Judge orders assessment for girl charged with boyfriend’s fatal stabbing

A juvenile court judge has ordered a mental-health assessment for a teenage girl charged with murder in her boyfriend’s stabbing death.

Judge Amy Stoner also denied a request Tuesday morning that Lnaysziah Perry, 18, be released to the custody of her mother on the grounds that she is not a threat to harm anyone else.

Ms. Perry, who was 17 when Dashawn Cotton, 19, was fatally stabbed on the evening of July 16 in the 6000 block of Morningside Drive in West Toledo, wept throughout most of the pre-trial conference Tuesday morning in Lucas County Juvenile Court, then burst into tears at its conclusion…
