Lucas County auditor gives update on effort to rectify inflated property values

LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — About $1.74 million has been given back to citizens through refunds and adjustments to Lucas County property values in last year’s mistake-filled property revaluation, county Auditor Katie Moline told WTOL 11 on Tuesday.

As of July 24, the county Board of Revision has heard 5,268 cases of the 7,075 complaints accepted for property owners challenging their valuations in the 2024 revaluation, Moline said. A software programming error caused property values to be inflated by an average of 29.5%, which put Moline and her predecessor, current county Commissioner Anita Lopez, under significant scrutiny and a pledge from Moline to right the wrongs.
