TOLEDO, Ohio — A key witness in the 2022 murder of two Toledo teenagers has recanted his trial testimony in a handwritten letter, claiming two men are serving life sentences for crimes they didn’t commit.
Corbin Gingrich, who played a central role in the convictions of Brent Kohlhofer and Charles Walker for the murders of Ke’Marion Wilder, 16, and KyShawn Pittman, 15, now says he lied on the witness stand after months of pressure from detectives and prosecutors.
In the letter obtained by 11 Investigates, Gingrich writes that he “did something I never should have done” when he agreed with co-defendant Cruz Garcia’s version of events to avoid spending “the rest of my life in prison.”
