TOLEDO, Ohio — The Monroe County Health Department is hosting free measles vaccine clinics at various locations during the month of August. Here’s what you need to know about getting vaccinated.
Vaccine clinics
The free clinic is open to adults and children (age 1 year and older), and no appointment is necessary. Insurance is also not necessary to receive a vaccine.
Here’s when each of the clinics are being held:
- Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. – South Rockwood Library
- Thursday, Aug. 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Bedford Branch Library
- Thursday, Aug. 28 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Dundee Library
Health experts said measles is highly contagious, and that vaccination is the most effective measure at preventing it. One in five people who get measles will be hospitalized, the health department said.

Additionally, as of July 29, 2025, Michigan has confirmed 22 cases of measles in the state, while 1,333 cases have been confirmed in 40 states across the country.
