Toledo man charged with forgery for alleged check washing

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo man was arrested after police allege he was involved in a check washing incident.

Michael Lewis, 18, of Toledo, was booked into the Lucas County Jail after police served a warrant for his arrest on Aug. 6.

Police affidavits said an 89-year-old victim was informed by his bank that one of the checks he sent in the mail was intercepted, washed and forged. Lewis allegedly deposited the check…
