Veterinarian avoids conviction for animal cruelty, receives diversion, license suspension

FREMONT – Veterinarian Laura Hirt pleaded guilty but was not convicted of the 26 animal cruelty charges she faced. Instead, she was given diversion by a Sandusky County Court judge.

And, Mr. Whiskers is again living at home.

Hirt appeared in court Aug. 1 on fifth-degree felony charges of cruelty to a companion animal. During two years of diversion in lieu of conviction, she may not practice veterinarian medicine…
