SYLVANIA, Ohio — Sylvania Schools has finalized and announced its new policy regarding student cell phone usage ahead of the start of the new school year.
In a letter to families sent Tuesday, Sylvania Schools Superintendent Veronica Motley addressed the change to the district’s policy.
“Beginning with the 2025–26 school year, and in accordance with Ohio House Bill 96, Sylvania Schools has updated our student handbooks for grades K–12,” Motley said in the letter. “Our updated handbooks now state ‘all cell phones must be silenced and stored in a student’s assigned locker for the entire instructional day, from the first bell to the final dismissal bell.'”…
