MAUMEE, Ohio (WTVG) – The City of Maumee plans to upgrade its sewer system to ensure it won’t be contaminating the Maumee River, a statement from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office said.
The city agreed to make upgrades to sewer system to end sanitary sewer overflows as part of a settlement with the state, according to a statement from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. It’s not yet finalized by the court, and the public will have an opportunity to weigh in.
Maumee was accused of pumping untreated overflows of sanitary wastewater from manholes into the river to prevent sewage from flooding the basements of homes, as heavy rain would cause the sewer system to overflow…
