State Considers Mental Health System Changes

ADRIAN — At Wednesday’s Board of Commissioners’ meeting, Lenawee County residents heard an update on possible changes to the state’s public mental health system.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is planning to reduce the number of Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans from 10 to 3 statewide. These plans manage money for community mental health services, including in Lenawee County.

The proposal includes a 15 percent limit on administrative costs, compared to the current rate of about 1.6 percent in our region. Officials say the change could mean less funding for local services…
