Question: What are the most common conditions people come to you for?
A: Over the past 35 years I have practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery with a concentration on the removal of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck region. Many of these diagnoses are quite enigmatic, such that community practitioners request referral to multidisciplinary teams that exist in academic medical centers, like ours. Our resources are exceptional, including support from radiology, pathology, anesthesiology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and other essential services. The University of Toledo Medical Center is the fourth academic medical center in which I have worked during my career, and I have been impressed with the reception that this academic medical center provides to patients, including those who travel long distances to consult with me and to undergo surgical treatment under my direction.
Q: What are some signs that someone should get checked for mouth, throat, face, or neck cancer, and other common conditions that fall under your purview?…
