Maumee educator finalist for top civics teacher award

MAUMEE, Ohio — Jamie Naragon, an educator at Maumee High School, has been named one of ten finalists nationwide for the National Civics Teacher of the Year Award, presented by the Bill of Rights Institute (BRI). The recognition comes with a $1,000 prize and the chance to win the $5,000 grand prize.

Naragon, who has spent more than two decades in the classroom, was selected from a pool of nominees submitted by educators, students, parents and community members nationwide. The award honors civics teachers who go above and beyond in helping students understand and live out the ideals of a free and just society.
