Toledo-area tornado sirens sound multiple times, EMA explains what happened

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo-area residents heard tornado sirens going off multiple times Friday afternoon.

Friday Sept. 5, the first Friday of the month, is the typical siren testing day. There was a delay in activating the normal noon test, which led to the sirens going off more than once, Lucas County Emergency Management Agency officials said.

When the siren didn’t go off at noon, crews tried to activate it again, which led to the system receiving “redundant functions,” an EMA official told 13 Action News…
