TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo man who saved a woman from drowning in the Maumee River last year will be honored Tuesday by city council.
Justin Slater was fishing with his father in the early morning of July 31, 2024, on a nearby dock when he heard a woman splashing in the water.
Slater’s father called 911 while he jumped in the water and swam approximately 195 feet to reach the woman. He performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and the Heimlich maneuver before first responders arrived…
