Man ruled competent for attempted murder trial, pleads not guilty by insanity

An East Toledo man accused of stabbing his wife and another man was found competent to stand trial and has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Thomas Wilson, 47, of the 200 block of Steel Street, was indicted July 2 for attempted murder and two felonious assault charges. He entered the not guilty plea on Friday after Judge Robert Christiansen, visiting for Judge Joe McNamara, ruled he was competent to stand trial in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

According to Toledo police, Mr. Wilson stabbed his wife several times in the chest with a knife at their home on June 25 before stabbing another man that came to her defense in the chest and hands during the altercation. The man, a friend of the victim, was living with the couple at the time…
