Lucas County to launch Enhanced Library ID Program to expand access to services

TOLEDO, Ohio — A new partnership between the Board of Lucas County Commissioners, the Toledo Lucas County Public Library, the City of Toledo Human Relations Commission and Welcome Toledo-Lucas County will soon offer residents a new form of identification aimed at improving access to essential services.

“This is simply going to be another library card option available to the residents of Lucas County,” said Lucas Camuso-Staal, a representative of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. “It will still act as a working library card, but present other identifiable information that will help folks access important services in the community.”

The initiative is designed to support residents who may lack traditional forms of identification, including unhoused individuals, new Americans, senior citizens and youth. The card can be used to verify identity at food pantries, shelters, senior centers and other service providers…
