Toledo City Council looks to clean up neighborhood blight, could cost landlords

Toledo City Council members are looking to mitigate blight in the neighborhoods, but it could come at the expense of landlords.

Councilmen Nick Komives and Theresa Gadus introduced legislation Tuesday that would amend the Toledo Municipal Code to require landlords to supply a Dumpster or container for eviction setouts. The legislation was co-sponsored by Councilman Vanice Williams, Brittany Jones, and Cerssandra McPherson.

According to their proposed legislation, a setout is defined as “any personal belongings, trash, debris, or other materials taken out of a dwelling as the result of any eviction actions.”…
