TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Arbors at Sylvania after a resident died in January of 2025.
According to the lawsuit, 72-year-old Sam Ray Sr. died in January from a polymicrobial infection from a bedsore he developed while at Arbors at Sylvania. Ray Sr. was transferred to Arbors at Sylvania in August of 2024 after hospitalizations for a urinary tract infection and aspiration pneumonia.
According to the complaint, staff at Arbors at Sylvania placed him in adult diapers despite being continent. The staff also allegedly told him to soil himself instead of assisting him to the toilet. The suit alleges that the staff would leave him in his own waste for extended periods of time, which irritated the skin and contributed to pressure ulcer formation…
