TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Bus driver shortages are impacting local schools throughout Northwest Ohio and in Michigan. Superintendents say funding, tough schedules, and lack of applicants are contributing to the shortages.
“They do a tough job. They are literally driving a classroom on wheels,” Superintendent Jonathan Royce said.
Royce said finding drivers is not easy. Drivers need to be certified, willing to work the split shift for mornings and afternoons, and take a pay amount that fits into a specific school’s budget…
