More than 10,000 without power after storms hit southeast Michigan

More than 10,000 residents in southeast Michigan are without power after strong thunderstorms swept through the region Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Consumers Energy is reporting that 2,772 customers are without power, while DTE Energy reports that 7,979 are without power as of 6 p.m. on Oct. 21.

The National Weather Service issued a report for strong thunderstorms in Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe counties this afternoon, warning that residents could experience wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour…
