TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department and the city of Toledo are officially launching the Healthy Food, Small Market Program, an initiative aimed at increasing access to healthy foods and beverages in neighborhood markets across the city.
A kickoff event is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the Main Library in downtown Toledo. Local and federal leaders, including Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, will join Health Commissioner Karim Baroudi and representatives from participating stores.
“This program is a key part of our ongoing efforts to support the health and wellness of families across Lucas County,” Baroudi said. “When people can access fresh, nutritious food close to home, it creates healthier communities and stronger neighborhoods.”…
