Man who ran after Deerfield crash jailed for possession of meth, open alcohol, suspended license

The driver who caused the two-car crash at the intersection of North Latson Road and East Cohcotah Road in Deerfield Township at about 1:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, was captured by deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office after he fled the scene on foot.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the fleeing man, a heavy-set white male, approximately 50 years old, driving a 2005 GMC Yukon, t-boned a vehicle being driven by a 26-year-old Fowlerville woman. The man fled into a nearby cornfield.

Deputies immediately initiated a search using K-9 units and drones. The man was located in a wooded area northwest of the crash site using drones operated by the Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody without further incident and is lodged at the Livingston County Jail on the following charges:
