BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Starbucks baristas and supporters plan to rally next week outside the Starbucks on East Wooster Street in Bowling Green to demand a fair union contract.
The event is part of a national series of more than 70 pickets in 60 cities as Starbucks Workers United pushes the coffee chain to address worker concerns over pay, staffing, hours and on-the-job protections. The Bowling Green rally begins Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 5 p.m. at 1560 E. Wooster Street.
“Starbucks knows where we stand. They know our demands: more take-home pay, better hours, resolving legal issues. It’s time to finalize a contract this fall before the all-important holiday season,” said Michelle Eisen, Starbucks Workers United spokesperson and 15-year barista. “We remain ready to negotiate whenever Starbucks is willing to bargain in good faith and offer new proposals that address our demands. For example, baristas across the country are calling on Starbucks to come back to the table and address our demands now.”…
