LENAWEE CO. — The Alzheimer’s Association is warning families that the time change in November can be hard for people living with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
When the clocks fall back and days get darker earlier, some people with dementia can become more confused, anxious, or restless in the late afternoon and evening. This is called sundowning. In some cases, people may try to leave home without warning.
The Alzheimer’s Association suggests keeping a steady daily routine, planning busy tasks earlier in the day, spending time in daylight when possible, and keeping the home bright in the evening.
