Prosecutor pokes county during budget hearing, asks for $1.2M increase

Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates poked the county commissioners while asking for a $1.2 million budget increase to pay staff more money.

Mrs. Bates’ budget presentation began with pictures of Toledo’s skyline, dogs, and the county’s new dog pound — saying at the end of each slide: “We love that.”

However, it also included some topics that have generated some controversy for the commissioners over the past year: its aging jail, a contract for Flock license-plate readers, and the downtown Hilton hotels…
