Darnell Jones’ attorney says he plans to pursue insanity defense but needs more time to file

TOLEDO, Ohio — Darnell Jones, the man accused of killing and raping his 13-year-old daughter in March, appeared in court Wednesday morning where his attorney said he planned to pursue an insanity defense, but needed more time do do so.

David Klucas, who is representing Jones in court, said they had advanced “past the exploration point” of pursuing an insanity defense, but would not commit to a decision that day.

Klucas objected to the Oct. 30 deadline the judge had previously imposed, saying more time was needed because only a single opportunity is allowed to file for an insanity defense…
