LAFAYETTE, IN — A semi driver rear-ended an Audi slowed or stopped in the southbound lanes of Interstate 65 about 8 p.m. Thursday, killing the Audi driver, Mark Tompkins, according to Indiana State Police and the Tippecanoe County coroner.
Indiana State Police are investigating why Tompkins, 34, of Ohio, was stopped or slowed on the highway about halfway between the Indiana 43 and the Indiana 25 exits. Indiana State Police Sgt. Jeremy Piers said it was not because of congested traffic.
