MLK Kitchen for the Poor seeking donations amid growing community needs

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The Martin Luther King Center Kitchen for the Poor is asking for community assistance as charitable giving declines while the need for services grows.

The organization has operated a $10,000 monthly deficit for the first nine months of this year, cutting into reserves, according to the executive director.

“This calendar year thus far, the first nine months we were running at about a $10,000 a month deficit, so I mean, so it’s really ate into our reserves, you know, the money we had put up,” said Harvey Savage Jr., who leads the organization…
