Toledo City Council is hoping to spur economic development in West Toledo by approving a property tax exemption for a future retail complex on Central Avenue.
At Tuesday’s meeting council voted unanimously to approve a Community Reinvestment Area property tax exemption for Westgate Village North, LLC, to facilitate the redevelopment of the former Sears site at 3450 W. Central Ave.
“Today is so exciting because we used an economic development tool to create a project that’s going to be very attractive and very exciting for the city,” Councilman Sam Melden said. “I’m convinced when residents see what retailers are being brought to this area, they will be impressed.”…
