TOLEDO, Ohio — A powerful cold front will move through the region on Wednesday, bringing a fast-changing mix of wind, falling temperatures, and late-day snow showers. With this system arriving on one of the busiest travel days of the year, Wednesday has been upgraded to a Weather Impact Alert Day for northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
A windy and colder Wednesday
Temperatures will start in the mid to upper 40s before daybreak, but colder air sweeps in rapidly through the morning and early afternoon. Winds strengthen through late morning and become the most impactful part of the day, frequently gusting 40 to 50 mph.
By early afternoon, strong wind gusts will make travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Wind chills will tumble into the 20s by late afternoon as scattered rain showers begin mixing with and changing to snow.
