TOLEDO, Ohio — Nearly four months into the Libbey Glass strike, workers picketing outside the company’s north Toledo plant say their push for a fair contract remains strong, even as winter weather sets in.
On Thursday morning, striking workers were joined on the picket line by Dr. Amy Acton, the Democratic candidate for Ohio governor, who came to hear directly from union members about their ongoing dispute with the company.
Libbey’s four unions first walked out in August, when summer temperatures allowed workers to picket in T-shirts and shorts. Now, with temperatures roughly 60 degrees colder, workers huddled around a fire as they continued their daily demonstrations…
