Whiteford Elementary adjusts safety procedures after incident between dog and adult requiring ’emergency medical care’

SYLVANIA, Ohio — Whiteford Elementary is adjusting its security procedures from Monday through Thursday, following an emergency medical incident last week on school grounds.

Due to an active investigation, details were intentionally limited while the district was working with law enforcement and the Lucas County Dog Warden, according to a letter to families from Sylvania Schools Superintendent Veronica Motley.

“We can now share that the medical situation involved an incident between a dog and an adult that occurred on school grounds. Although the incident did not involve students or staff, emergency medical care was required,” Motley said. “Out of respect for those involved and due to the active nature of the review, these specifics were not shared earlier.”…
