Lucas County sheriff’s deputy disciplined after ATV crash involving disabled teen during off-duty job

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Lucas County sheriff’s deputy was disciplined after an internal affairs investigation concluded he acted carelessly while escorting a group of children and young adults riding ATVs on Toledo streets for a private job and failed to properly respond when one teen crashed and was seriously injured.

According to internal affairs records, Deputy Sheriff Nate Floure was working off duty for a group home provider who hired him for $80/hour to follow a group of kids and young adults riding ATVs through Toledo while content was being filmed in connection with a Tyler Perry show in August.

Riding ATVs on city streets is illegal. Despite that, video and witness accounts describe the group traveling in traffic lanes through multiple neighborhoods before arriving at the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union on Monroe Street…
