Suppression hearing held in Darnell Jones case involving death of Kei’Mani Latigue

TOLEDO, Ohio — A suppression hearing was held Wednesday morning in the case against Darnell Jones, the Toledo man charged in the kidnapping and death of his 13-year-old daughter, Kei’Mani Latigue.

Jones was present in court and appeared in a wheelchair. He told the judge that his medications do not affect his ability to understand the proceedings or communicate with his attorneys.

The hearing focused on four defense motions to suppress evidence, which, if granted, would prevent certain items from being used at trial. Defense attorneys are asking the court to exclude physical evidence seized from a Toledo home, cellphone records obtained from AT&T and related investigative materials.
