Handle with care: Ads in apps, streaming services help reduce shaken baby cases in Lucas County

In the early 2000s, Toledo had a problem with infant deaths from shaken baby syndrome. A task force was formed, and a 24-hour hotline launched.

The crying baby hotline went live with Mercy Health nurses and other staff members providing caregivers tips and resources on handling crying babies after working through a list of questions and assessments to eliminate the possible causes of the crying.
